Coconut cultivation and agriculture - Nuciculture ou l'agriculture du cocotier

©R. Bourdeix, 2021, section CA.

For illustrating this section, we can produce on request about 30 large size HD posters (up to 180x100 cm in size). These posters should be adapted to each country, on a case-by-case basis, in order to prominently feature locally produced coconut products and local techniques. It is also possible to buy or rent items from the personal collection of Dr R. Bourdeix.

As shown in the dynamic list below, the topics are varied and diverse. They are divided into three main sections.
  • The first section concerns the genetic diversity of the coconut tree and its use in agriculture: what is a variety of coconut tree, how to recognize it, name it, conserve it, produce it and use it.
  • The second section concerns the management of a coconut palm plantation: how to manage seedbed and nursery, what planting device to adopt, how to plant young coconut palms and maintain them, as well as the various factors that can limit productivity.
  • The third section deals with the harvesting and transportation of the various coconut products.
In addition, we have produced about ten short films which could be screened in a coconut tree eco-museum, and which are presented at the end of each relevant section.
